The inaugural awards ceremony took place in Dublin’s Shelbourne Hotel in 2016. It was officially opened by Minister for Health, Simon Harris, T.D. and hosted by television personality and GP, Dr Pixie McKenna. Since then, the Awards have gone from strength to strength and have now become one of the highlights on the calendar for medical and healthcare professionals nationwide.

The GPBuddy National GP Awards recognises the tireless efforts of those working on the ground to improve the lives of patients all over the country. General Practitioners and healthcare professionals from the recently qualified to the long-established are recognised at these Awards for their dedication, commitment and innovative contributions to community based healthcare in Ireland.

Due to Covid, we were unable to host the 2020 and 2021 GPBuddy National GP Awards. We returned to the Shelbourne in 2022 and are delighted to announce that we will be hosting 2024’s awards ceremony this coming September in The Johnstown Estate.
